How to get best deal when renewing contract

Hello , I have a bit over a month left on my current contract, have spoken to retention and the best they can do is increase the price by about 30% which seems excessive but is apparently the 'best they can do.' I said OK can I give you 30 days notice (which normally gets a better offer) but he just said Fine, you're free to leave. I tried webchat but it's the same deal. How do I get a reasonable price for the next 24 months? Thanks in advance 👍

Is that a 30% increase on your existing discounted price? Depending what services you have, that wouldn't be entirely unreasonable if it locks your price in (mid-contract increase not withstanding) for 24months.

cardiffman's advice is also fair though - you need to be comparing the price offered by VM, to that available from alternative suppliers in your area. Then play call-my-bluff with outbound retentions versus lining up an alternative... depending on which outcome you genuinely want.

Yes it's going from 47 to 63 pounds so about a third. I would be happy with something in the £50+ range so am waiting for the email telling me my price is about to go through the roof (when existing contract expires)

I'm presuming you're referring to the expiry of your time-limit discounts when your minimum-term expires... if so, you can find this detail on the bottom of your contract and each monthly bill.
