Hi Lansbury
I would try new batteries in the remote control (even though it's a new box and remote)
The 360 box needs to be connected to the internet for the voice control to work. Sometimes the box loses internet connection but it usually throws up an error message such as CS9993 when this happens.
You could try pairing the remote again by pressing TV and 0 button for 10 seconds.
You could also try the following:-
Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/On button on the front of the box for 10 seconds. Then usingthe remote control, press and hold the 'TV' button and the '0' button together for 10 seconds. And fingers crossed hopefully a message should appear on the screen confirming that pairing was successful.
Does the microphone appear on the screen every time you press the button, if you keep the button pressed when speaking do you get a " sorry I didn't understand that " message or nothing at all.
I have same problem. Get microphone icon on screen then the "Sorry i didnt understand that" message.
This can be due a poor internet connection, or the need to replace the batteries (new remotes often need the batteries changing before they can be paired with the box)
MY sister lets go of the microphone button too early hence she always sees the, "Sorry i didnt understand that" message.
I often speak too quickly so it doesn't understand me.
It can also be because it actually isn't programmed for the phrase you say, even something as simple as saying a channel name can fail to be recognised, but if you say the channel number it works.
There are some voice control commands on the following page

Tried new batteries but no change, however Ive now discovered holding the remote right up to my mouth and shouting does work. Presuming either blocked microphone hole or microphone itself faulty.
