VM 360 Planned Recordings

Hi,

Not sure if this is a generic issue or just an issue I'm experiencing.  So, V6 has just been software updated to 360. I've had to restore all my series links manually,  however, when I try and create a series link, for a program that isn't yet scheduled to be broadcast, it doesn't show in "recordings" or under "planned recordings".

I select the series to be recorded using the program guide, record series, advance options, record new only, record.  I get a message, "scheduling recordings", "scheduling in progress check planned recordings later to confirm it's all there"

Checking later nothing is listed under "recordings", is this because no programs are scheduled to be broadcast or is this an issue with my 360?

On V6 I could review all series links irrespective if programs were to be broadcast or not and amend them accordingly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Roger, I can only see in planned recordings those programs that are due to be broadcast in next couple of weeks or so. Those series links I have requested to record, that are not due to be broadcast in next two weeks, don't show anywhere.  No way, it appears, to see what has been requested,  yet not scheduled to be broadcast.

It would seem these requested recordings will only show, in planned recordings, once they are scheduled to be broadcast in next couple of weeks. This seems odd as V6 you could view all requested recordings,  even when programs are not scheduled to be broadcast for weeks or months, they sit there until programs are broadcast.

  • The 360 doesn't have the Series link management like the V6/TiVo box had.

If you do set a series link it will record the next series when it becomes available but you will only see it in your planned recordings when it becomes available available, the EPG works on roughly a 14 days advance, seems to vary on some channels.

If you are setting up a new series link you want to use either the "from this episode" or the "new only" option, I did have a series link set up using the new only option and it worked ok until a software update to the box and I had to change it to the "from this episode" option.

Thanks Roy, I thought as much. Bit of a retrospective step, as far as V6 is concerned in my view. I often like to schedule recordings that may not be broadcast for weeks or months.  Whilst you can do that, it appears, on 360 there is no way to view those long-term planned recordings.  Bit odd 🤔

My understanding of TV360 is that you can only set recordings for programmes that are scheduled to broadcast & thus listed in the EPG

TiVo-firmware on a V6 allows you to set series-links from any available version of the programme in question - which includes OnDemand assets.

As mentioned above, a fundamentally different way of doing things. TV360 is very online-centric.

  • If VM don't want to pay TiVo to use their software then fine, but the least you'd expect was a platform that worked just as well.

Yet we've just had a firmware upgrade and basic stuff is still missing: no undelete and no way of deleting a single planned recording while still recording the rest of the series (which would be very useful for things like Top of the Pops where multiple episodes are shown and you can't rely on the episode data being correct).

It beggars belief VM think the TV360 is anywhere near good enough as a platform.

Totally agree with you and the issues you pointed out. Also noticed you can not alter or amend series link, or whatever it is now called on 360, whereas on V6 you could alter the series, for example, from everything to new only. 360 you have to delete the current recording regime then re-create it again with new requirements.  Also, whilst I'm moaning, when setting a recording regime the default setting it "series 1 and onwards" which has to be manually changed everytme to, for example,  "new only". There is no way on 360, like V6, where you can alter the default setting to record new only.

I assume when something is upgraded, software/hardware,  that facilties and options would improve not be reduced.
