Virgin TV Ultra HD Channel

I have a VM 360 TV box along with the Mega TV package

I can watch TNT Sports ultimate channel in 4k plus any UHD channels via BBCi player but Virgin TV Ultra HD Channel 175 appears to be output in HD 1080 NOT 4K 2160?
I have an up to date 4K TV, HDMI cable, the correct settings on the 360 box…..

Does anyone else have this issue or know how to solve please?

    Not all content is broadcast in 4K on the VM Ultra HD channel (175)

    Dogs is showing  as I post this reply, and according to my LGC4 is it being broadcast in  2160p

      Hi Dave,

      That isn't the broadcast quality it refers to the signal the TV is receiving from the 360 which is always upscaled to your TV so it will show as 4k.

    Thanks for the reply, that did cross my mind but I have watched 3 different programmes the past 24 hours and all 1080p? ( I’ve not really took much notice previously as quite new to 4K )

    Don’t get me wrong, still decent picture quality but not the WOW factor like the sport / BBC i player channels

      Hi Gash1,

      If you press the info button on any program and scroll down to the bottom you will see the picture quality, unfortunately it only ever shows SD or HD, doesn't show UHD on TNT Ultimate or the Sky Sports UHD channels.

      If Virgin are showing some 4k content they usually let you know on the Home screen, next time might be around Christmas 🎄

        Thanks Matthew, yes the info provided has been very helpful

        Whilst Watching The End Game last night on Channel 175 the picture did seem better than normal so I checked the info and scrolled to the bottom of the page to see the quality as 4k, same again earlier whilst watching a nature programme so all appears fine 

        I don’t recall changing any settings so maybe the programmes I watched initially were either normal HD or maybe I am expecting too much from 4k, appreciate some programmes, especially certain scenes in nature documentaries can be hit and miss?

    Channel 175 is a showcase channel for Virgin Media's UHD capability. However UHD content licences are harder and more expensive to acquire than most realise, so VM limits its UHD broadcasts and fills in the gaps with cheaper HD content for the box to upscale to UHD.
