Ultra HD channel

I am supposed to have the free ultra TV channel but it is not showing the programmes. I have done the diagnostics and it says my TV is OK for Ultra TV but yet still the programmes won't play but the channel is on. Any ideas anyone ???

  • When you say the Ultra channel isn't showing the programmes are they greyed out so you can't play them or they just don't play. Is your HDMI chain, TV, soundbar if you have one and HDMI cables all HDCP 2.2 compliant, cables need to be at least HDMI V2.0.

Do you have Sky Sports UHD or any other UHD channels that all work and it's just the Virgin ultra channel that doesn't.

I Don't have Sky sports UHD, but the free Virgin ultra channel does not work,  yet it did last year when I had V6 and my diagnostics says UHD is available now on my V360

        Hello mattfox3112,

Thanks for letting us know. If your 360 diagnostics are showing that UHD is available but the Virgin Ultra HD channel still isn’t working, we’ll be happy to run some checks with you to find out what’s going on.

To get started, could you let us know whether you’re seeing any error code or message on the screen when trying to access the channel?
If there is an error code, you can look it up here:

Virgin Media Error Code Help: https://virg.in/tverrors

Here is an additional link that may be useful for people with the TV360 set ups: https://virg.in/tv360

If you can provide a bit more information in terms of accessing the channel, we can look into it further and see if there are any other variables. Just send us the details when you can, and we’ll do our best to help you!

Do you have the 360 set up for 4K? Settings > Audio & Video > HDMI resolution

Are any onscreen messages displayed when trying to access the VM UHD channel (175 and 999) such as those indicated in the following post by VM Forum Staff member Steven_L?

Ultra HD & HD TV | Virgin Media Community - 5671953

Which actual TV make and model do you have?

For example Hisense 43E6QTUK, or Samsung UE40F6000FK

The BBC have a list of TV's that they support for 4K <Here>.  Is your device on their list?

Are you using the correct HDMI port on your TV? The BT website have an article <here> that lists a large number of TV models by manufacturer and the ports that are 4K compliant (for example older Samsung's that use (MHL) and/or the Samsung Evolution kit

As I said before "Is your HDMI chain, TV, soundbar if you have one and HDMI cables all HDCP 2.2 compliant, cables need to be at least HDMI V2.0."

If you don't have any of the other UHD channels can you watch any UHD content on iPlayer.

Unfortunately no as transferring to the 360 software is a one way trip and there is no going back to the Tivo software.

Twice you've said "does not work". It's like saying to your doctor "my arm does not work" and expecting him to figure out what's wrong.

        Hi Matt 👋

We're sorry to hear you UHD channels are not available on your new TV360 box. Thank you for flagging this to us 🙂 We can see you have received a lot of help from the community here, but have had no luck 😔 We're hoping to locate your account to run a diagnostic check and confirm the HD channels mentioned are still on the package. We'll be sending you a PM to discuss this further.

  • Do you have a 4K (UHD) TV,  what TV do you have. You used to be able to watch the Virgin UHD channel on an HD TV but I think that is not possible anymore.

Have you checked everything is HDCP 2.2 compliant as I previously posted, even if you could move back to a V6 you might still have the same problem.

Like Roger_Gooner said a bit more information or feedback would be helpful.

You still can. I "only" have a 32inch HD screen, UHD content is just downscaled, my V6 set to output at 1080.

        Hi japitts,

Just tried setting my 360 to 1080 and non of the UHD channels will play. I think it might have been the last update to V5.22 for the 360 that now gives you warnings when you set a recording on a UHD channel to make sure TV and cables support 4K. I think it might be a case of supporting HDCP 2.2.

Looks like you will need a 4K TV and everything HDCP 2.2 compliant, cables need to be at least HDMI V2.0.

Does the OP have a HD or UHD TV they haven't responded to the question.
