V6 and V360box installation?

Hi,

I've recently taken delivery of a new V360 box to replace my V6 box.

Last night I went to install. Clicked to install with the V6 box still in place as instructed. Installation failed so switch off and on V6 box (as instructed on screen). New software then installed...so seems I have 360 now but V6 box is still in place.

Was going to change box when my partner came downstairs saying 'what have you done?'. Her T.V which uses an 'old style - pre V6 TIVO' had gone off...nothing, nada, niente!!

What i'm asking is, when I install the 360 box and the mini bit too, will she gain access to Virgin services or, have I completely ruined her entertainment? I understand the 360 & Tivo use different software!!

  • You can't have both V6 and 360 on the same contract.  The old TIVO can no longer be used.  The existing V6 has been "upgraded" to the Horizon 360 software and the other 360 box you have is a replacement for the old Tivo.  This other 360 may be the 360 mini which has no hard drive as the converted V6 is now the 360 Master that holds all the recording for both boxes.

      Tuning in

I left my current V6 box in place with the now updated Horizon 360 software. Replaced the old TiVO 500 box with 360 box and all is now good!

      Thanks

The older TiVO 500 boxes are now obsolete. The new box you have been sent is to replace this box, as the V6 can handle both TiVO & Horizon 360 platform firmware, so is “sent” the update through the cable. As you have migrated this box your account has now also been migrated, which means the older TiVO 500 is no longer authorised & cannot be used on the network. Simply replace this with the new box, & it should receive all the same channels as the old one did.

  • So we're saying, leave V6 in place with new Horizon software. Then replace old TiVO 500 box with new 360 box?

    Thanks Guys

Yes, that would be correct.  The old TiVo is now defunct. You will need to return it, VM should supply the returns label and packaging.

  • I update my V6 downstairs one night then when I went to bed the old tivo was off. The next morning I switched the tivo out for the new mini 360 and all was fine. Hope this helps
