upgraded to 360 but...

So I was upgraded to a 360 remote which i understood would work with my Tivo box. It partially works. Would I need a 360 box to make it work fully?

You need to confirm which actual box you have.

You can't upgrade the older tivo box - that one needs swapping out for an actual TV360 box.

If you have the V6 tivo box then you receive a replacement 360 remote and you perform an over the air update.

i have a V6 box. I think the v6 box asked me to restart it but didnt say anything about a update. it all looks the same.

To add to newapollo's post, TiVo & V6 boxes both run TiVo-software. TV60 runs Horizon-software - TiVo & Horizon are fundamentally different and cannot work together in any shape or form, even for the most basic functions.

TiVo's are physically swapped when you request a TV360 instead. V6 are software-converted - you install the new software, your box is reformatted to completely wipe all trace of TiVo, and it starts a new life as TV360, when the new remote will work.

So its likely i havent performed the update then. the remote instructions mentioned that there be a install sign on my home screen. it then said to look in app and games. there wasnt anything there.

Only thing i did was restart it when it asked and chose remote setup in setting menu..

        Hi again wilksbrighton

It's possible that the app hasn't been downloaded onto your system yet  - the box should automatically update around 5 days after you receive the remote if you haven't already performed the update yourself.  If you leave it the 5 days then it gives you time to watch any recorded programs that you haven't round to yet (they are deleted as part of the regrade/update) I suggest that you also take photos of your series links so you can add them to the 360.

There should be update instructions included with the remote cpntrol, either a pamphlet or an inlay on the inside lid of the box that contains the 360 remote. (screenshot below)

There's also a youtube video to talk you through the update
