Upgrade v6 to 360 iplayer error 02050

I did the upgrade on two boxes. On neither box will iplayer or bbc sounds work. They give the 02050 code. They are connected to different display types one is a Samsung tv one a monitor via hdmi. I have rebooted as other post have mentioned several times but still does not work on either box. All other apps work. Iplayer is the one I use most though so this is very annoying. Anything else I can try?

  • I have been away for four days and it has fixed itself on both boxes so opening a ticket process sorted it i guess. Thanks to those that push it.

  • I would try a factory reset if you haven't already, using the keep recordings option.

    It's only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset. You are given 2 options,

    Keep Recordings

    Format Disk

    Choose Keep Recordings , that means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up, you will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITV-X again, also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.

    After my 360 boxes decided to not carry out any scheduled recordings or allow me to delete old ones I did a reset. 

    Sorted recordings now I can't use iPlayer with error 02050. What is the issue?

    I've reset both boxes. Powered all devices off bithe router and 360 boxes as described on somewhere else. Fired up the router, waited for everything to come back online and then booted up the 360s. Done it in so many variations and yet still the same error appears with iPlayer. 

    Other TVs with iPlayer app are fine, my mobile is fine. This is a virgin issue. What's the resolution?

      Yes I've posted about the same issue with iplayer. It been suggested to do a factory reset but I have not tried it yet.

      Hi there, I'm having the same problem,  having just upgraded with the new 360 remote.  BBC Iplayer is coming up with the error code 02050 when you try to play a programme.  I've tried unplugging both the router and the TV box overnight, then switching back on - no joy.  Then I tried the factory reset - still no joy.  Is there anyone who can help?  Has anyone found a solution?

    I'm experiencing the same problem. Error 02050 on BBC iPlayer.

    All other apps fine. Can access it on my phone and via smart TV.

    Powered off both router and 360 box. No joy.

    Factory reset of 360 box. No joy. Very frustrating.

        Hi Dave, It says that where I am and there isn't a problem and wasn't one as far as I know, has it been fixed.

         

  • Having exactly the same issue. Upgraded last night and tried all possibilities that have been suggested online. Called Virgin and they confirmed there was an outage in my area for BBC IPlayer but should have been resolved by 20.00 this evening but still getting the error code.

    Does anyone have any updates?

      What area are in to see if it's the same as other people are having problems, unfortunately no else has said where they are so far.
