TV 360 ‘upgrade’ failed

I agreed to the upgrade because I thought it was now compulsory (should have checked here). The new remotes arrived a few days ago so today I decided to run the installation, following the instructions in the upgrade video from the Home Screen.

First I got error message MA3/14/30 - ‘update failed please pop back and try again later’

Subsequent attempts result immediately in error message MA1/4/30.

Any ideas what to do?

  • You could try turning off the V6 with the switch on the back of the box, then on the V6 box hold down both the power button and the + buttons at the same time. Then turn on the V6 again whilst keeping hold of those buttons for a further 30 seconds.

The box should reboot, the power button will turn white, it will reset and boot up normally, and then hopefully install the 360 software update.

If that doesn't work you might need to give Virgin a call.

    Very Insightful Person

    Hi cathie,

Error codes starting Error MA1/ are often due to the migration starting before the systems are ready to process the switch. When this happens it usually works if the customer tries again later on or the following day.

As well as Roy's method using the + button you could also try using the - (minus) button instead,,,,

Turn off the V6 by the switch on the back of the box;  then on the front of the V6 box  hold down both the power button and the - button at the same time. Then turn on the V6 again whilst keeping hold of those buttons for a further 30 seconds.

Some people with this error have also managed to perform the update by either removing the box from the mains for five minutes and trying again, or by deleting a few recordings to make more space and then trying again. (he migration automatically deletes the recordings anyway as the process involves formatting the boxes hard drive.)

Thank you both very much. Both boxes are now updated, following a mix of that advice!
