Recording

We have just received a new 360 hub5 model F3896LG with the smaller HDMI module. Getting the tv working access to stream etc all easy but we cannot record. I am guessing the hub does the local recording? Is there a cable connection required from the hub, all provided cables are fitted. Advice please.

The new TV box since April is the small streaming only box, so no recording possible.  If you require a 360 Master for recording this is at an extra cost and may not be available in your area.

Thanks maybe back in the box and back to sky for us.

  • I believe that is the hub for the fibre broadband so only the mini streaming boxes available with no recording facility, if you are in a fibre broadband only area then a 360 main box isn't possible.

You will have to hope everything is available on the catch-up / streaming service's.

You keep your box when you leave sky which is useful because I think they are moving towards streaming boxes for new customers.

A lot of SkyQ contracts require the box to be returned if they are terminated. Also front line Sky TV sales are now also streaming boxes. Just like VM with V360 you have to specifically ask for SkyQ when placing an order.

As stated V360 is only available in traditional cable areas. The new fibre only areas don’t support them.

  • The Hub 5 is just your broadband router and doesn’t handle TV recording; to record on Virgin TV 360, you need the main 360 box with a built-in hard drive. If you’ve received only a smaller 360 Mini box, it cannot record on its own and relies on being connected to a main 360 box to access or store recordings. If a main box wasn’t included in your setup, you’ll need to contact Virgin Media to request the correct recording-capable device.
