Recording overlapping programs on same channel

If I attempt to record 2 programs on the same channel that follow each other the second program does not start recording at the correct place. I have set all recordings to start 1 minute before the program and continue for 5 minutes after the program. The first program records as expected, but the second program does not start at the right place, it starts after the first program which is not 1 minute before the expected recording, How can this be fixed?

  • Works okay on my 360.  I had this issue on the TiVo V6 though.

It worked fine on the TiVo V6, apart from for a brief period soon after the change to use the same tuner for recording overlapping programs on the same channel was added, when there was a bug that got quickly resolved.

Just to clarify, are you saying that the second recording starts when the padding for the first program finishes?

I too use a V6 so can't replicate this - but I'd expect to see more complaints from TV360 users if this behaviour was normal.

It does still happen with my TiVO V6s, although it is intermittent. So if recording 2 consecutive progs I usually either remove the padding between the two or set a manual recording that covers both.

Horizon does not have manual recording so the first option is the only one available, if indeed the OP is on Horizon 360 & not running TiVO firmware.

I'd go so far as to say it's extremely rare on a V6. I have back-to-back recordings set on my V6 daily - very occasionally I'll get momentary picture breakup at the changeover point, but that's it for problems.

I can't remember the last time I had a problem with one recording cutting short or starting late.

I've just tested recording two consecutive programs on the same channel on one of my 360 boxes.

The box is set up to record 2 minutes extra time before a program begins, and 15 minutes extra time after a program ends.

I decided to test by recording Crimewatch Caught  Series 2 Episode 5 (10:45 to 11:15am) and Homes under the Hammer Series 25 Episode 60 (11:15am to 12:15pm) both on BBC1HD (Ch101).

Crimewatch Caught recorded as scheduled including the extra time before and after.  Homes under the Hammer recorded the extra time before the program started as scheduled.   I've now stopped that recording as it's a program I don't watch, but I'm satisified that it would have recorded the additional 15 minutes extra time too.
