Does anyone know how to fast forward the advertiesments on ITVX, I used to be able to.

Thanks for reaching back out to us, sorry to report as Roger_Gooner has stated, the only way to fast forward on ITVX is to subscribe to their ad free option for this facility. It is not something we can facilitate on their app without being subscribed to It.
Seems to me that ad-skipping of on-demand content under Maxit TV was a legacy benefit that ITV didn't allow on subsequent contracts, so you need to subscribe to ITVX's Premium to at least be able to skip the ads in ITV-owned TV shows and films.
