Picture Flicker

Hi All

Recently we have been having a slight issue with my 360 box..

The picture flickers sporadically when watching broadcast channels.

We normally watch tv most evenings, & for the last couple of weeks or so, there as a noticeable but brief flicker, which happens almost every evening, this happens 1-3 times an evening between around 7pm-12am & is becoming a little irritating…

So far I have tried the following to see of its an issue my end:

Rebooted both TV & 360

Checked for Software updates on both TV & 360

Swapped HDMI cables

Checked coax connection both ends (wall feed to 360)

Replaced power supply/extension cable

Changed HDMI port for 360 on TV…

Changed frame rate/Match frame rate setting on 360 on & off

Change picture settings to ‘Normal’ on TV

The thing is if I watch TV via an app ie BBC Iplayer, Prime etc via 360 box its perfect no flicker at all & other devices ie games console etc all fine…

So with all the above taken into account I can only think it’s either an external signal fault/interference or possible HDMI issue with v360 itself at this point…

As echoed the issue is very sporadic in nature but can almost guarantee it will show itself at least once an evening, its akined to the old days when a neighbour used to switch on a hoover for example & the picture would briefly flicker…

Perhaps a signal test from your end for 2-3 days/evenings might shed some light on this as the online one only gives basic info…

The other possibility of course is that with multiple road works going on in our area could this have something to do with it ?

I’ve searched the issue also via this & other forums but the issues published are not quite the same as what I’m currently experiencing & at best only offer basic solutions as echoed earlier which I have already tried several times…

The only similar post I can find suggested a ‘provisioning issue’, whatever that means, from user Tonhaz…

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have run out of options to try my end…

I’m hoping that it’s something you may already know about ie maintenance in the WD area…

If that’s the case, then at least this will put my mind at rest…

Kind Regards

E

      Hi All...
Sadly I have report that flicker/picure jarring is still present...

Same as before engineer visit, happens 1-3 times during an evenings tv session..
Only happens during live tv broadcast...

I have managed to capture some footage of the behaviour using an old camera...

If you scrub to 1.00-1.05 it's there...

The only way I can describe it is that the picture splits in half horizontally the top half  shifts one way & the lower half the other just for a split second...

Steaming apps via 360 all fine though...
      Other inputs also all fine...
It's only live tv this happens...

The engineer ,as I recall, replaced the coax cable &  also the box itself...

The replacement box on closer inspection is a little scuffed up by the way, so I guess a recon unit ?...

Anyway I can only conclude that we are experiencing some sort of signal interference either further down the line  or at transmitter source...
Due to the sporadic nature of the fault, carrying out a single signal test will always come back as a pass, so can suggest continuous monitoring for a few days your end...?

Another recent thought i had is that we try another live tv source just to confirm my suspicion that this is a line/feed fault but have no other equipment to try...

So just to throw this out there maybe we try a flex box for a short time as if I understand correctly a flex box uses Internet only for live tv & not coax ?...

I understand that recording functions will not be available with flex , but if it stops the annoying flicker then maybe worth a try?

Please ignore the date stamp on the video, I used an old camera to capture the attached & forgot to change the date...

Apologies if this is long winded....
Opportunities to report this have been limited due to other demands my end so just trying to get everything down whilst I can...

      Many thanks
      Ed

Ps can't seem to find how to upload footage...

        Hi Edvm1234

Thanks for coming back to the thread. We're sorry to see it's still ongoing. You do need a further engineer visit due to the tests ran.

We'll PM you now to book this in.

        Best wishes.
