Talking Pictures displayed wrongly

VM is taking 4:3 format material and displaying it such that the width fills the complete 16:9 frame resulting in the top and bottom of the 4:3 image being truncated. 4:3 content should be displayed with correct aspect ratio and have black bars at the left and right.

  • VM are not changing anything. Your TV box is changing it. Talking Pictures, along with all broadcasters using SD format, transmit a Widescreen identifier in the frame intervals when 16:9 content is being transmitted. This is not present when 4:3 content is output. All TV boxes default to Full Screen format, so will stretch a detected 4:3 picture to fill the screen. If you are not happy with this go to Home>Settings>Video Output, & set the Aspect Correction Mode to “Panel”. Then the box will switch automatically between the two formats as they are detected.

Many thanks Nodrogd. I thought I had tried all the permutations of settings but clearly not your suggestion. 👍😀
