New 360 remote won't pair with Virgin TV V6 TiVo box

Hi All,

360 install crashed a few times, so never got the prompt to switch to new remote. 360 service is now up and running and on latest firmware, but 360 remote pairing has failed. Old v6 remote works.

I have tried holding down minus button 10secs on v6 box, then TV & 0 btns 10 secs on 360 remote, batteries out, batteries in, 360 remote reset etc

Do i need to somehow unpair v6 remote?

Cheers, Debbie

    Hi Debbie

The V6 remote shouldn't need unpairing, but remove the batteries from it so it can't connect to the 360 box.

Make sure that the 360 box is connected to the internet (by ethernet cable if possible)

Also try new batteries in the 360 remote and make sure you've pulled the plastic tab off on the back of the 360 remote.

How did you pair/re-pair the remote? Did you use the correct 'Live TV' button? (the one on the right hand side directly below the red power/standby button)

It should work by holding down the 'Live TV' and '0' button together for around 10/15 seconds. The Standby button should then start to flash followed by an onscreen message displaying 'Pairing successful - this remote will only work with this Virgin 360 box'.

You can also try the following:-

Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/On button on the right hand front of the 360 box for 10 seconds.  Then using the remote control, press and hold the 'Live TV' button and the '0' button together for 10/15 seconds. And fingers crossed hopefully a  message should appear on the screen confirming that pairing was successful.

  • Hey debxox, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, I am so sorry to hear about your remote issues.

Did the above advice help at all?

  • Just received mine today. Unable to pair..habe tried TV/0 , TV/rewind to reset remote, removed batteries and put new ones, put bix on standby.....

There are no "how to pair" in the package which is odd......

Not impressed.  Not a problem either as, like many, I hardly ever use VM for TV... Great attempt at making it more like a smart TV... but it just does not work.

      Hi casserced

Is this a regrade from V6 to TV360?  Or a box swap from tivo to 360?

If it's a regrade from V6 to TV360 then there should have been an insert in the box containing the TV360 remote control.  Although sometimes the instructions are printed on the inside of the box lid containing the new remote.  Screenshot below.

Please try the following.  Hold  down the 'Live TV' (the one on the right hand side directly below the red power/standby button) and '0' button together for around 10/15 seconds. The Standby button should then start to flash followed by an onscreen message displaying 'Pairing successful - this remote will only work with this Virgin 360 box'.

If that fails you can also try the following:-
Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/On button on the front of the 360 box for 10 seconds.  Then using the remote control, press and hold the 'Live TV' button and the '0' button together for 10/15 seconds. And fingers crossed hopefully a  message should appear on the screen confirming that pairing was successful.

OMG! THANK YOU! Had the same problem as the others. Old remote working, new one not. Was on the phone to support for over an hour trying to resolve this. Why?

Because there are TWO buttons with the word TV on them. The 'live' TV button is below the Standby button, the other one is on top left. Thing is the word TV is larger on the top right. I didn't see the other one. Kept being told to "Press the TV button and 0" which I was doing, probably 10 attempts, plus numerous switching on/off of the box. Also being constantly told to "unpair the old remote. Hold TV + clear until the green light shows" (What green light??). Gave up and they are sending me a new remote as they think this one is broken.

Nope, YOUR INSTRUCTIONS are broken customer services! All they had to do was repeat what you said "The TV button under the standby button" and I might have seen it.

Pressed the right buttons and hey presto! New working remote. Thank you for saving my sanity (pity you couldn't get back the hour and a half I wasted with customer services lol)

  • Just got a new remote for my existing box.

As the remote slid out from the bix I did not think to split the box open... there is indeed the instructions... invisible from the outside.

New problem now..I have not used my VM tv for so long, cannot recall my pin!

    But thanks for your help
