fast video play

On the old Tivo i could playback programs at a 1.5 x speed with sound,  the new 360 box does not appear to have this feature .  Is there a fix for this issue been developed.

Not something that is likely to be changed, even if it could. Horizon is Liberty Global’s core firmware, with a few minor adjustments VM is able to make on its own version. The whole push now is toward streaming only boxes on VMs new networks, so spending money on a new feature for a box that VM is no longer pushing to new customers isn’t going to happen.

All part of the 'upgrade', which is in fact quite the opposite.

  • its a feature that youtube has as well, plus my pc for videos , some dvd player etc.  So i don't understand how Virgin can deliver an inferior product to its customers

It's easy enough to understand. Using the 360 instead of the Tivo saves them money.

Found this on Google, it "does" say that YouTube "don't" use any TiVo technology on their fast video.

TiVo and Google (YouTube's parent company) do have a multi-year patent licensing agreement, which was expanded in 2018 to cover Google's products and services, including YouTube TV. This agreement is for the licensing of a broad range of TiVo's patents related to entertainment technology and content discovery, not specifically for the core video playback speed technology used on the main YouTube platform.

  • It's a TiVo patented feature called Quick View and as the 360 run's Virgin's in-house software "Horizon" it doesn't have that feature. ☹️
