Dolby Digital not working-no sound on BBC and Sky

Dolby Digital suddenly doesn’t work on my Virgin Media 360 box.   Over the past 2 weeks the sound on all TV channels (BBC, Ch4, Sky etc) disappeared apart from the ITV channels.  It seems to be that Dolby Digital is not working on them.  If I change the Audio Output setting from ‘Follow Content- Recommended’ to ‘PCM 5.1’ the sound on the BBC and Sky etc comes back but I had to reduce it further down to ‘PCM 2.0’ to get sound on Netflix.  The VM Showcase UHD channel was working fine on the ‘recommended’ sound setting tonight tho so I had the Pet Shop Boys in full Dolby Digital.  For the last 12 months I’ve had no issues at all playing it through my Yamaha RX-A6A AV amp.  Has something happened?….it doesn’t sound as good.  All software and firmware is bang up to date.

Sorry to hear of your sound concerns. Does the sound work as it should without your amp/soundbar?

I’ve tested it with my soundbar and it works ok.  My soundbar does not have Dolby Digital capabilities.   It’s my amp it won’t work with.

You don't have an amp, it's an AVR and a good one judging from its spec. The 360 should be connected to HDMI 2 (5 STB) and the TV connected to HDMI 2 OUT, i.e. non-ARC.

Why do you have a soundbar and not speakers and how are you connecting this soundbar to the AVR? If you don't have speakers then why use the AVR, just connect the 360 to the TV and the soundbar to the TV via ARC.
