BBC Sounds / iPlayer not working after upgrade

So glad I'm not the only one. Since the supposed 'upgrade' (downgrade in my opinion) to 360 I can't get anything to play on BBC Sounds or iPlayer, but they're both fine on my tablet. Other apps seem fine. Error code 02050, which doesn't even appear in the VM error code list. And no way to uninstall or update apps. Have trued rebooting, to no avail.

[MOD EDIT: Subject title changed for clarity]

  • Same here Anne. My iplayer works fine on my ipad using wifi so it is this new sorry system. Just one of a few things that don't work anymore or as well. When I googled the code I get

    AI Overview
If you're seeing error code 020500 on your Virgin Media 360 set top box, it's likely due to an issue with the HDMI connection between the box and your TV. Here are some things you can try:
    • Check cablesMake sure all cables are securely connected
    • RebootRestart the set top box at the mains power
    • Update TV firmwareEnsure your TV's firmware is up to date
If the issue persists, you can contact Virgin Media customer care by calling 1908, using live chat, or contacting them via social media.
Other things that could be causing problems with your Virgin Media TV include issues with your broadband, account, or the TV itself.

Given that my 360 is brand new install I cannot imagine the firmware to need updating, all other channels etc are working so I cannot think HDMI is a fault , nor my tv. So I'm trying the phone number.

The customer care phone number highlighted above is for VM Ireland. See https://www.virginmedia.ie/contact/

These community forums are for domestics users of Virgin Media UK.  (https://www.virginmedia.com/)

If you have a VM landline then it's a free call by dialling 150 from your VM landline.

You can also dial  0345 454 1111 from any other phone.  This is a free call included in most call plans, it's the same as dialling an 01,02,or 03 number, however on some calls plans you need to redial after 1 hour to keep it as a free call. Be aware some call plans are weekends only, or evenings (after 6pm) and weekends.

  • Only seems to be a problem with recently updated boxes, could it be a version of the V6.

Have you tried doing a factory reset.

It's only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset. You are given 2 options,

    Keep Recordings

    Format Disk

Choose Keep Recordings, that means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up, you will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITVX again, also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.
