Apps Won't Stay Logged In

Hey,

My 360 box will not save any login credentials for apps like ITVX, BBC iPlayer etc... my elderly dad loves watching things on these apps, particularly ITVX, and now that he can't he finds it very frustrating as do I. I have tried various ways to resolve this including:

  • Turning the box off at the wall waiting at least 30 seconds and then turning it back on again.
  • Turning the box off at the back, pressing the minus and plus keys separately and both together whilst turning the box back on again.
  • Trying a factory reset.

The box is never switched off or left on standby either, so this is not the issue.

When I try the minus and plus keys methods then a download arrow icon is displayed and it appears to be downloading an update but with no installation bar at the bottom. When I try a factory reset the same arrow is displayed but this time an installation bar appears with a message to wait for installation to finish. However when the box finishes and I press the home button on the remote and I check settings it appears that no update firmware has been installed, it is always showing version 5.16.

Regardless, nothing works and after signing into these apps it won't stay logged in for very long and I have to keep signing in all the time which I can't keep doing.

I firmly believe that the box needs replacing or an engineer needs to come up and take a look for us to try and resolve the issue. Can someone please help me with this?

Thank you.

    Hi AntoniJ1975,

    Thank you for your response.

Are you having any other issues with the box at all?

When you log in, is this via a code or a manual log in?

Please pop back to us when you can.

  • Hello AntoniJ1975

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. Sorry to hear of the app issue.

Can you advise roughly, how long the app is staying signed in for please?

Version 5.16 does appear to be correct as well :)

    Keep us posted.

    Best wishes.

      Hi @John_GS

I tested this yesterday as I wondered myself. I signed into ITVX and waited around 10 minutes before checking and I was already signed out. So my guess is within 10 minutes.

I also forgot to mention this in my original post but sometimes I can't even sign into the app, example ITVX. I put in my e-mail and password and press the continue button but nothing happens. I have to physically reset the box in order to sign in again.

Hope this information helps and we can resolve this soon.

      Thanks.

Out of curisosity, is your elderly dad watching programmes that could be recorded when they're broadcast? Thereby avoiding the need to use streaming apps.

He does record some but then sometimes he forgets or the recording doesn't come out as he expected. He also enjoys finding a new series he never knew about etc... it's just a lot more easier for him to have them available at his fingertips which is why he enjoys using the apps.

  • An engineer came up today and changed out the box with a new one and all now seems well. Apparently this happens most of the time (but not all) when the hard drive starts to fail in them because your login details are stored there. So if you are getting this issue and have tried everything you can then might be worth getting the box changed or if you're not fussed about recording anything then a streaming box instead where details are stored in the cloud. My dad is happy he can access ITVX again!
