VM intercepting my incoming calls

I  have always used my own cordless Gigaset answering machine if I can't reach a phone within the set delay period of 30 sec, however having switched from Talktalk to VM broadband and Weekend chatter, if I'm out, although I receive an indication on the answering machine that someone called me the messages left are replaced by 2 bursts of ringing tone. I have never asked for VM voicemail nor do I want it, nor is it specified. I suspect that VM is intercepting my incoming calls with their voicemail. Please can this either be disabled or made much longer than 30 seconds. Thanks.

You should be able to turn voicemail off by dialling 1571 and following the instructions.

  • Hi Osiron2,

Thank you for your post. We're sorry to hear about your calls.

As Graham_A has advised you can disable your voicemail via that process.

  • Sorry, all I'm given is a greeting to set it up and 3 options to use my own greeting, to use a standard VM one... and Star to exit the tutorial. No option to change delay or to disable.

I think this needs a moderator that has back end access to VM's system

Right I see. It is unusual that isn't working for you.

We can certainly look into this for you.

I will private message you now.
