temporarily unavailable landline

Hi, I'm having issues trying to contact my elderly mum on her landline.  When I call I get a message saying 'unable to connect as it is temporarily unavailable'.  This has only started this week. I've tried three different mobile phones plus a landline to ring her, but I always get the same message. Weirdly if my mum rings me and I then call her back I get straight through! I am concerned that in an emergency I won't be able to contact her. And she wears an emergency safety alarm round her neck and I don't know if this is working?  She is on the vulnerable list due to her age(in her 90s) and she is hard of hearing. Her broadband is working fine, it just seems to be the landline.  I live 3 hours away so can you help please?

    Welcome to the Community Forums and thanks for the post.

    Sorry to hear about the issues with you Mothers landline, I would certainly like to help you out with this, for me to do so I am going to need to confirm some information from you in a private message.

      Hi Joe, you helped me out with trying to fix problems with my mums landline.  An engineer came yesterday but when I ring I still get the message saying the line is temporarily unavailable.! What can I do??

        Thank you for the update. I'm very sorry to hear that these issues are ongoing.

        Have you been able to check and confirm if there's a known service issue in your mother's area that we're working on? You can use our service status checker tool to look.

  • Has she recently had her landline switched over to go through a modem

      No, her switchover happened a few months ago (which was a nightmare!)

        Hi, porluc.
        Thanks for your all posts, sorry to see your mother's landline was switched over to fibre this long ago and you're having problems with the service. 
        I believe you're on private messages with Joseph_B above so please let us know how you get on once you've discussed the issue further on how we can resolve it.
        We'll be eager to know it's sorted, keep us updated.
