Port home phone number to another provider

Question

I would like to transfer my home phone number to another service provider (VOIP) but I don't want to cancel my phone line with virgin yet. Can this be done and virgin just allocate me a new number for now when the port is done?

Thanks for coming back to us fizz.
You would be able to do this if you wanted to, but if you're within a minimum term agreement you would likely be issued with early disconnection fees.
To also re-iterate, once the port completes - from ourselves to your desired landline provider, the service would cancel at that point and cannot be issued with a new/temporary landline number

I wouldn’t think so as generally a number port will cease the existing landline.&nbsp;

Adduxi is correct, your new provider will ask us to transfer the number to them and this in turn would cancel it with ourselves.

The number is linked to your account, so to do what you want to do &amp; stay within the porting rules the only way you could do it is to:1) Rent a new line from VM with a new number.2) Transfer your primary number to the second line.3) Put in a port request to transfer the number that is now on the second line, which cancels it off the account.
