Phone line issue

We currently have no working landline phone with virgin. We were due to leave virgin and go with sky. An open reach engineer on behalf of sky came out on 17th march and the landline was taken over by sky. On setting up the sky stream pucks I realised we would not be able to record on these they offered us sky q but as we want the option to watch tv in four rooms at the same time sky q wouldn’t work. On 18th march we cancelled with sky and renewed our package with virgin. All services with virgin have remained except the landline. Since the 19th march I have spent several stressful hours speaking and live chatting to virgin members trying to explain they need to port our phone number back from sky. Unfortunately no one seems to get what needs to happen. On 1st April our number is due to be sent back to BT so potentially will be lost. My husband is self employed, has this number printed on his van/website/google. Please can anyone help. The last agent booked an engineer to come out to us on Monday to check equipment, I tried to explain there’s nothing wrong with equipment just need number port but to no avail. Got told if there’s nothing wrong with equipment when engineer visits we’ll be charged £25

It is always dodgy putting in cancellation requests when you want to port a landline. The correct procedure is for the new provider to handle the entire process. It is common to hear of ports being blocked by direct cancellation requests to the leaving provider.

Thanks, didn’t really think about it being an issue, you live and learn I guess

Another vote here for A&A to look after your phone line. We didn't even tell VM we were porting the number and they didn't seem to notice.

This type of experience is why we ported 3 BT lines to a VOIP provider in 2017 and will never allow the telephone numbers to become part of an ISP's bundle i.e. out of our direct control.

If VM will not play ball, could you port from Sky to a VOIP provider like A&A ?

Hi Dollyday14 👋 Thank you for your posts and welcome to the Virgin Media Community 😀

We're sorry to hear about the poor experience you've had 😔

Was any further information provided by the last agent as to why they booked an engineer visit for you?

Please pop back to us at your earliest convenience.

        Regards,
        Daniel
