Old phone not working after switch over.

I have an old phone that I want to use in a socket in hallway. My hub is in bedroom and I’ve had the switch over completed. When I plug it in it cancels out my other phone Panasonic. I can dial out on the old phone but when I ring in it slightly rings half a ring. But doesn’t keep ringing. I have tried it in my mother’s house and it works perfectly. The phone is a Bakelite old round dial phone, like a bat phone.

Did VM modify your home phone wiring so that your telephone wall sockets would work after switchover? VM should offer to do this free of charge as part of the switchover process.

An old phone may need a ringing capacitor in the adapter from the VM hub (which is not present in the adapter supplied by VM).

Some people have reported ringing success with this item (although no guarantee it will fix your issue)

The phone connection from the hub has a REN of 3. It may possibly struggle to ring your vintage phone when more devices are plugged into the line.

If they did, your original telephone wall sockets should still work. If they did not then the only working phone connection will be the one on the back of the VM hub.

Sorry to hear of the issues experienced with the old handset.

Can you please provide a response to the post from goslow to give us a better understanding of the setup with the new provisions in place?

    Thanks,

        Hi ianmaguire,

Thanks for expanding. Are you saying that it doesn't work if you connect the phone into the router with the adapter? If the switchover has happened then the wall socket connection won't work.

        Thanks,
