No phone line

Hello, my phone line is down , has been for about a week , phone screen was showing line busy, no incoming or outgoing going calls. I changed the batteries, re plugged all lines and finally today I have bought a new phone thinking my relatively new “old “ was the culprit for no phone line.  My new phone has no dialing tone . When I ring my landline number from my mobile , it rings on my mobile but nothing on landline . I am now £50 out of pocket with two good phones not in use.  Please advise what is going on, nothing showing for  my area  or home for faults.

    Thanks for your first post and welcome to our community.
    Sorry to hear you're having an issue with your landline and being out of pocket for £50.
    I'd like to investigate this for you.
    If you don't mind, I'll need to send you a private message to pass security. 
    If you can check the envelope at the top right of your screen that would be great.

    Now we've been able to arrange an engineer's visit, please can you let us know how things are afterwards.
