Landline weirdness- can see the calls coming in, but no ringtone

Hi

For some reason my landline is now not ringing when calls come in.   I can see the call coming in, with caller ID working perfectly, but handset and base no longer ring.  Handset and base ringers 'work' when changing volumes etc.  Fault persists with another phone unit.  Is there a new glitch?  Any suggestions gratefully received!

  • Hi turtles

Thanks for your post and welcome back to our community.

We're sorry to hear the landline isn't working.

Could you please check all the connections are secure and also try another handset if possible?

Please pop back to us when you can.

  • (it's a hardwired line into the external VM box, not a via-the-hub line, if that makes a difference)

Have you received an adapter for your hub to phone. If your hub to phone link is working then that would suggest your old landline is in the process of being shut down.

  • I don't think this is an issue with Virgin Media - I think this is an issue with the handset, as Vikki said above, try another handset if possible. You could probably pick up a cheap one of Amazon or look in your local store, not sure if they still sell them but it's worth a try.

Let us know how it goes,

  • The fix was arranged by the VM forum team; an engineer was required, who identified a dodgy bit of hardware in the cabinet for my local area affecting several neighbours too (almost no-one gets incoming calls on landlines now, so I was the first to notice!).  My line needed to be reassigned.  All good now, thank you.
