The two telephone ports on the Hub are separately wired units. They are there for customers with 2 telephone line accounts & do not work as a splitter. You can use a telephone splitter with the TEL1 output, that has a maximum REN value of 3.
You need to contact your alarm company about using VoIP type connections, as these do not work during power outages. Most alarm companies are moving customers to a mobile network solution when they have hub based lines installed.
