Landline Phone Engaged

Engaged tone when phoning out unless I put the area code in front which is ok for outside my area but having to put my own area code in to phone a neighbour or local shop, etc?

Phoned my wife's mobile, nothing other than it stated she had a missed call?

Phoned my mobile, nothing just goes to answer phone?

Use 150 to contact VM, works fine so phoned technical services, they ran a diagnostic test which has showed up a continuity problem somewhere in the area. This is a many months known on going problem in our area (be nice if VM fixed it) that has affected broadband, cant see why this should suddenly affect my phone? The neighbours VM landline phones are ok its just ours?

Customer service raised a ticket and said they would monitor it for 24 hours then get back to me, nothing as of yet!

  • Hi hotrod,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear you're having an issue when dialling local numbers. We're aware of an issue affecting customers and the teams are working hard to resolve this.

In the meantime you will need to dial the full 11-digit landline number for all calls in order for the call to go through.

    Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Ok to get around the landline numbers problem but what do we do for mobile numbers?

        Hi hotrod,

Thanks for coming back to us on this. This seems to be only affecting those customer's on the digital landline currently so it could be that they are either with a different provider or running of the old telephone network.

With the mobile numbers, what happens when you try calling these? The 2 numbers you've called, are these both on the same network? Are you able to receive calls from a mobile number or does this not connect either?

Pop back and let us know.

        Thanks,

Also why aren't my neighbours having the similar problems? Why only us?

Problem still ongoing. Just a bit of extra info. No dialling tone on digital phone but plug an old style wired phone into router, still have the problem but have a dialling tone! My neighbours are also experiencing the same issues!

  • Hi hotrod,

Yes I have kept him up to date, this post was more for others that are experiencing the same problem as it looks as though it is a nationwide issue in various forms.
