Landline on router ?

My (very) old VM cable has been replaced with a new fibre optic cable. My landline no longer has a dial tone. I suspect I need a new phone which can connect to my router. Can anyone advise, thank you.

  • Yes, suspect I do need an adapter as Avonline said VM would need to sort out the landline after they replaced the external cable.

  • Hi Lester61 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us, sorry to hear that you are without a phoneline. Please can you confirm the source of your internet with a image of the cable running into the back of your Hub.

Hi Lester61 thanks for your reply.

If you've not been provided with an adapter to link your phone to your Hub, then please let me send you a PM so I can arrange this.

It's compatible with most landline devices, so hopefully we can sort this for you.

Expect the PM from me to arrive shortly and respond directly when you can!
        Many thanks

    No it’s the same hub.

Just a new external cable, older cables had a separate phone line incorporated, now it’s all combined into the fibre cable.

The photo shows your incoming cable is copper coaxial, not fibre. All that has changed is your phone now links to a digital transmission system between your home and the exchange instead of an analogue twisted pair cable.

Full fibre connections on VM (Hub5x) have no phone service at all.

Login to the menu of the VM Hub 3 and see if Telephone is (Enabled / Disabled).

It needs to be Enabled to use an RJ11 plug to BT socket adaptor via port TEL 1 of the Hub 3.
