Call Barring

Hi we have had call barring for many years to use with our BT answerphone.

Everything worked well until we were forced onto VOIP. We then found that we could not make any calls as were were asked to enter a pin which we didn't know. We could still receive calls OK. Fortunately the 150 number did not ask for a pin. 3 calls later and much time spent I finally found someone who knew what I was talking about. Took him ages but he finally reset the pin. Why call barring is active on outgoing calls is very strange. The whole point is to bar nuisance calls.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’ve been having with your call barring however we're glad that you've been able to get the issues resolved. We do offer call barring on outgoing calls as well as incoming calls.

      Is there any way that barring can be set up to work only on incoming calls as before?

    Might be to do with different interpretations of the terminology. VM's phone guide describes 'call barring' as preventing certain types of outgoing calls.

    Call blocking, or call screening, might be another way of referring to the process for incoming calls. VM only offers anonymous caller rejection for incoming calls unlike BT which has a more advanced screening system.

        Are you seeking a total block on all incoming calls (which is call barring for incoming calls)?

        Or are you seeking something like the BT feature of screening incoming calls to prevent scammers getting through?

        If you are seeking the latter screening for scammers, VM does not have any features like that. You need to use your own call screening devices such as
