2nd telephone port on virgin media router

I have switched over my analogue phone line to digital.

Plugged in my home phone into the router as directed and all working fine.

The issue is i need the telephone port on the back of the router working as my alarm needs to be plugged in.

I have tried plugging in the home phone and rebooting but no joy.

The alarm dials out when connected to the 1st port but of course i need the home phone working as well.

any ideas of what i can do?

    Hey priteshpatel,

Welcome back to the Community Forums and thanks for the post.

Sorry to hear this is happening with your alarm, normally as you have stated the 2nd port on the Hub would work for landlines, however what you may need to do is check with the alarm company you are with that the setup works with the Hub and landline both plugged in, as some alarm companies don't and would need to provide additional equipment.

      Hi Joe,

Thanks for coming back to me, the alarm is a stand alone using a simple phone dialler.  the issue is that neither home phone or the alarm work in the 2nd port with the 1st port being empty.  There is no dial tone when either is plugged in.  i would assume either port should work?

      thanks

What are you taking about? The advice I gave myself?

The 2nd port on the router doesn't work for the telephone when the alarm system is in port1

      Please advise

Note on a VM Hub the Tel 1 port is the only one that works.

Use Hub port Tel 1 with the VM supplied RJ11 to BT socket adaptor cable,
and then add BT double or triple socket adaptor.

Now the telephone + building alarm can both be connected at the same time.
