New Hub 5, won't connect, blue flashing lights. Hub 3 was fine!

I was sent a new Hub 5 to replace a Hub 3 (which was working fine). I've followed the instructions but it won't connect, it has a white light for a minute then turns to blue flashing lights which I believe means it's still setting itself up.

I phoned to check it was activated and was told it is fine their end and would work in a couple of hours. It's now been 6+. I logged in to settings by connecting the hub to my laptop and it says "Requesting CM IP address". I've tried resetting several times.

They have booked an engineer in a few days but I'm frustrated that everything was fine on the old hub (which now no longer works) and concerned the engineer might not be able to fix it on the day and I'll need to wait even longer.

Does anyone have any suggestions of other things to try? Have I missed anything?

everything works in a couple of hours according to the world class CS that is VM - detect the heavy sarcasm there

thats what they would say - its got rid of you - if its activated its should work - quick thing to try is put the old hub back on if that connects to the internet the the 5 is not activated - you say you have tried that - try again with a reset - if you get nowhere with that ring the activation line again and hope you get someone with a bit of knowledge and ask them to get either working - if the 5 works great if not and they can get the 3 working wait for the tech to come and sort it or try to

You were right. I called again, and within 1 minute the guy could see that the old hub was still activated. 10 mins later, I'm up and running. What a **bleep** show.
