New Build Estate

Hi,

I've just moved into a new build property. As far as I'm aware the cables have been laid for the street and we have a pull cable available at the property to bring a line to the house.

Does anyone know a contact number for getting connected please? The sales team said it's with the new build department but don't know a contact for number for them, and it just says "coming soon" for my address online.

Cheers,
Stephen

  • Hey Stephen4444, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, we are sorry to hear this.

Before we take this anywhere how new is this new build?

Was this the specialist team who advised this, from that photo it looks to be very soon.

      Hey Matthew,

It's 1.5 months old, the same with the rest of my side of the street - all completed at the end of Sept.

It's the sales team that told me it was with the new build dept, I haven't spoked to anyone in the specialist team.

Yeah they are the specialist team who deal with this.

What did they advise it was with them for planning?

As you can imagine these process aren't simple and often complex with us gaining permits.

We would advise to keep an eye and sign up here

    On our wavelength

Just wanted to add my experience. We were VM customers and moved to a new build. The estate had been in progress since 2023 and had about 30 houses built at the time we moved in.

All with the brown boxes/green ducting outside like yours. VM new build team didn’t know when the estate would be enabled so ended up letting us leave penalty free.

A lady up the road in her new build managed to transfer her services but I don’t know how as the whole estate showed as “coming soon”.

Any how, about a year after living there with about 100 houses now occupied, several contractors turned up and started putting the fibre in for VM.

We then had several cold calls from VM sales reps which was slightly shortsighted as we were all in contract with competitors!

Hyperoptic had the right idea and had everything set up ready to go on move in day. The router was pre installed etc. we just had to phone up, sign up and ten minutes later we were online!

Seemed slightly shortsighted of VM to leave it so long, certainly not very commercially driven!

The area we live in is served by Coax (as was our old house) and the new estate is xgspon/fttp. Not sure if that was the cause of the delay or what.

fingers crossed you get some good news but I found the new build team hopeless. They never answered the phone and when I did speak to them, they couldn’t tell me anything other than “hopefully in the near future”
