Building own extension Cable?

Virgin Media Hub5x

  1. 3-6 Meter cable, what kind of cable and does it need a female slot so the current WM cable male end slot into it? At the end of the extension cable does it need a green male end bit?
  2.  Do I need a coupler? No idea as i have not idea what one is.

Please feel free to laugh and comment.

Please feel free to post inks as I really need an extension asap.

Cheers big ears.

  • Update: Rang Virgin Media, Tech guy got me a choice of 5/10/15 extension cable with coupler. I chose the 10 meter one and it should take up to 5 working days to get here via post.

VM's cabling is part of their network, and well-intentioned DIY jobs are often a bad idea sooner or later.

It's one reason why non-fault tech callouts were reduced from £99 to £25 a couple of years ago - one flat-charge and VM techs provide all the parts & labour needed.

VM forum staff should respond on this forum in a couple of days.

    'green male bit'

Sounds like a longer fibre optic cable is needed and those are standard items if some kind person can point out the correct type to order from Amazon etc ...
