Is my package full fibre to my router or traditional virgin coax?

Hi would anybody point me In the right direction, I’ve recently joined virgin, (full fibre) 350m, they have layed cables in street and a grey box in my street, now my question is will it be full fibre to my router or coax to router? Had first installation complete where they fitted brown box to walk, now awaiting engineer to install router ect

cheers

J

It depends what type of network you are on. If the network build is VERY new & the service comes from telegraph poles in the street then you are on XGS-PON full fibre & will receive a Hub5x with a fibre input.

If you put your postcode into the checker & are offered Broadband but not Landline or V360 TV services, you are in an XGS-PON area. If all three are available, your service will be via coax.

If you can get 2Gbps then you are in an XGS-PON area and it's full fibre which is terminated inside your home at a small powered unit called an ONT. Note that you don't get traditional TV, rather it's a streaming box with no recording facility. Furthermore you cannot (yet) get a landline with the hub 5X.

I forgot to say that the hub 5X is a combined ONT and router, so just one device to be powered.
