Installation

I have recently purchased virgin media, Had the Dry install, got no signal so some guys have come to re-pull outside but apparently it’s blocked underneath. The technician that come out to my property yesterday has cut my sky cables so I am now left without tv and broadband in the mean time, they have booked me in for the 16th April. However no tv or internet what is the best option here? Do I ring sky for new cables and tell them the situation?

you are sort of punched or bored - VM are likely to tell you they cannot touch sky cables even though the cut them - sky are likely to charge you for repairing them and i doubt VM will compensate you for that - not sure what sky charge - used to be about £75 for a call out but that may have changed

the repul could happen tomorrow or next week/month or year thats the way VM installs are

you should be due compensation of about £6 a day i think as they have attempted to get you installed - you might have to fight for it but you should get it

is it possible to join the sky cables - the coax they use is nothing special unlike VM so a joint should get you up and running - for each joint you need a connector on each end of the cable and a barrel connector to then join the cable - sure there is lots of videos on the net - B & Q will have what you want for a few pounds

Sorry to hear of the situation in which you have no services currently running to your property.

Have you since been able to speak to Sky to have the services reinstated?

We can potentially look into the prospect of the pre-pull being brought forward, but this isn't always possible, with our team occasionally agreeing to time frames to complete work under a permit that's been granted.

    Thanks,
