Installation

I'm asking this on behalf of someone else. Basically the kit was sent out a little while ago and I was asked to set it up. However despite this person having had Virgin (more specifically Telewest) in the past, and having the box on the wall that everything connects to, I'm assuming with it having been installed probably sometime in the late '90s, there's no way to connect the new kit to this box.

There is still the screw type part where the wire connects, but the new Virgin wire simply doesn't fit it. It's way bigger and way too long to fit onto the old box.

Could someone give me some advice on what to do? Thanks.

nothing much has changed from the telewest days even that far back - the new cable is pushin rather than screw so it should fit - post some photos of the telewest box specifically the connection

I'll have to post them tomorrow or maybe the day after when I go back. It's obviously difficult to see in person with it being low to the floor, but it feels a lot like the plastic covering isn't wide enough for the pushin part of the connection to actually fit and it's that that is blocking it.
I have tried looking for a pic of the box itself online and can't find one. It's very rectangular and has no slope to it like all of the others I can find.

remove the cover from the box if possible - its likely to have special non [not easily] removable screws but if you can get in you can open up the plastic - theres likely to be a surge protector in there - if it helps you can remove that - there is now one fitted in the coax that came with the hub - so you can join the new cable to the input cable - you would need a barrel connector to join the cables
