CS9996 Returning Customer

Returning to VM from Sky this week. My boxes already there one in small bedroom upstairs and other by TV in lounge.

Got it to work OK eventually. However I don't run my broadband/hub 24/7 only on when on PC. Viewing TV keep getting "oops " not connected and recorded programmes I have to hit the 3 dots on remote to access. When hub on no problem, is there anyway to stop this message in setting?

Hub is staying where it is and will not be on 24/7 for info.

VM’s TV systems are designed around a 24 hour internet connection. If this is causing problems then maybe look elsewhere for your TV solution? Perhaps a TV aerial and go old school?

Past topics on here have discussed the merits (or not) of turning the hub off overnight.

The current range of VM's TV boxes require VM broadband to work. VM's telephone landline-via-hub connection also requires the hub to be on to receive landline calls. Some of the latest devices for heating controls and security cameras may also require a 24/7 broadband connection.

A few running costs calc's are below

A Hub 3 running 24/7 will cost something in the region of £25 to £30 p.a. at Oct 2024 electricity price cap rates.

Thanks for replies. Not a cost issue I just prefer keeping things on when necessary and in use. Also being older generation keep things secure.

Just wanted to know if I could stop the message appearing, but it appears not.

      Cheers

What VM tv boxes are you using?  Are these connected on wifi or ethernet cables?

On my wifi V6, that message occurs whenever the wifi is disrupted - at the same time it never appears on my other V6 which is connected on ethernet cable
