Can't find socket for coaxial connection

I just got the starter kit for a broadband only contract in a flat with part-fiber installation. The issue is that I can't find where to plug in the router's male coaxial cable. Do I need to call an engineer?

Photo 2 shows the remains of where the VM box used to be on the wall. The metal isolator box in photo 2 would have been housed inside the wall box with just one connector coming out of it.

The metal box in photo 2 will be marked with an 'In' and and 'Out' connection.

You can remove the connector from 'Out' by unscrewing it and push fit the the connector that came with your Quick Start kit onto the 'Out' connector of the metal isolator box.

Alternatively, if the trailing cable and plug in your last photo comes from the 'Out' connector of the metal isolator box, you can just screw that into the hub.

If you use the screw fittings be careful not to cross thread them. They only need to be hand tight.

If you need the connection relocating for any reason you would need to request a tech visit. If so, call the pre-installation and delivery team on 0800 052 1734 explain the problem and request a tech visit to install a socket where you need/want it.

There is what looks to be a thick coaxial cable passing under the VM phone socket in photo 2.

Where does that go to/from and what is on the end of it?

Sometimes there may not be a wall socket. The connection may be a trailing cable with a plug on the end.

Thank you for the response :D .The coaxial cable you mentioned comes from outside the flat and goes into my flatmates room.

And it does end up in a plug so what should I do? Should I just call an engineer?

Looks like you use that cable not the one from the box

Best to ask for a manned installation (it's free) to remove the redundant phone socket and install a modern wall socket. There looks like a redundant splitter there as well which, if I'm right, should also be removed.

You will only have been sent a QuickStart pack if the premises previously had VM. The box and cables may have been removed by the previous occupiers. There should be an omnibox, often brown or gray, on the outside of the premises, try tracing the cable/s from it. If no luck call the pre-installs team on 0800 052 1734 8AM- 9PM Monday - Friday or 8AM-6PM Saturday and Sunday
