Virgin renewal clarification

Put my 30 days notice for Virgin media on the 10th May as my discounts were ending new contract needed to be done.

all my services tv broadband and phone line end 9 June as does the old contract.

Had lots of calls with Virgin retentions i plumped for just the Broadband service which is good enough for me. Got the new contract through and it starts july 3rd rather than june 9 so i'm having to pay a month at the out of contract prices.

When i contacted them to query why the new contract doesn't start on the 9th june i was told i had to give 30 days notice when i mentioned i had done this on the 10th may virgin said i had to do it again as i was downgrading. That made no sense why would i have to give a further 30 days notice ?

The person who did the original new contract was supposed to call to explain but hasn't hours later

could anyone explain ?

  • Sounds like they are trying to make as much money out of people as possible.  My contract ends on 20th August.  So when do I need to give notice, 19th/20th July 2025.  I`m counting the days down and with my renewal going from £88 to £140 I will save lots of money.  I am going with TOOB for Broadband with no price increases, don`t use my landline now, all these Virgin say you cannot cancel as your bill will go up.  A customer for 30+ years and will now be a customer that they lose.  I bet the call centre would not forget to ring you back if you owed them money!?
