Recording box

I have recently signed up for virgin media. I done all my details and package over the phone. Whilst on the call i specifically stated i wanted a box that could record on i.e the 360 and was told i would get one 360 box and my other would be a stream box which was absolutely fine only for the engineer to come out and ive got 2 stream boxes. I called whilst the engineer was here to be told they are no longer offering the 360 and quite cheekily was told who records things now. Maybe someone who wants to record things that cant be streamed. I am very disappointed in the customer service pr lack of i ahould say by virgin media and would like to know if they actually do offer this or if i am better just cancelling this contract and going to sky Q.

The sales staff will promise you anything to get a sale. They are only supplying stream boxes now.

Some people have got a 360 box for an extra £50, but I don't know if that's still available.

You have to cancel within 14 days to avoid a penalty.

  • Hi acs123 👋 Welcome to the community forum! Thanks for posting.

So sorry to hear you were not informed at the point of sale that we no longer offer TV360 Boxes which include a hard-drive for recording. The idea behind this change is that there's all the same functionality available via My Watchlist! It lets you save your favourites to watch later via catchup. You just bookmark episodes or series from the TV guide and apps using the Save button on the remote, or Voice Search and Control. You can even manage your listings on the move with our Virgin TV Go app 👉 https://virg.in/GoDevices

Sadly we wouldn't be able to swap your device, but we can ensure there's a complaint raised with your feedback and an internal investigation is launched into agent conduct to prevent this happening in future. We can also discuss anything further you may be looking for as a resolution

Please keep an eye on your Inbox 📩 in the top right corner of the page for a PM offering further support with this. Thanks for your patience in the meantime!

I dont want to be using catch up as that is not the shows i want to be recording i want to be recording live football as my qork hours mean i miss the games i wish to watch at the weekend and now im going to be unable to do that. Very dissatisfied and disappointed as people record things they want not to use catch up if i wanted that i would have a freeview package and use iplayers for that instead of paying an extortionate amount for virgin media.

A freeview recorder and apps on the TV works very well for us.

  • Hi

does this mean VM has plans to switch off 360 boxes that currently have the recording facilities?

No. Unless you migrate to a full fibre connection you can still use V360, as these boxes only work on the traditional copper coax cable TV networks.

VM has standardised the offering, as there are a lot of new areas coming on stream that are FTTP only. You should be able to get V360 for a £50 fee IF your local network is HFC or RFoG (converts to DOCSIS via coax in the home)& not full fibre.

        Thanks nodrogd

I will be due to renew my package in a few moths and was concerned that VM would switch off the recording function.
I did have two recordable 360 boxes when I first migrated over from the TiVo system and one off them got switched off when I renewed my agreement.
Would full fibre require a new cabling?

        cheers
