Pricing Increase Notification

Got an e-mail notification of Ts & Cs changing in Nov 2023. It identifies price increases in Apr 2024 of RPI+3.9%. I am only 4 months into an 18 month fixed price deal. Will my contract subscription increase in Apr 2024 or when the contract ends in Oct 2024?

  • Hi MWF962 thanks for getting back to us.

    @bemybezzyman

    I've done the same and given 30 days notice and signed up a new supplier.

    Has your new service started?  Did it go straight forward on the transfer date?

    I found it difficult to cancel VM but I kept insisting I wanted to leave.

    I'm paying £2 more but the new customer service is here in England and can be reached by phone and e-mail, so worth that.

      I had 2 different people ring me up to try to persuade me to stay with really good offers and I said no thanks because you broke your promise to me and I'm off and especially after when the first lady rang promised me the earth and promised to ring me with confirmation of the deal and she never bothered so I said [MOD EDIT: Language] them.

      I am one happy bunny as my new supplier start on Monday and Virgin finishes in 20 days and counting.

    @Nicotene

    A few months ago Open Reach came and installed fibre to my street pole and a few weeks later became operational with FTTP.

    I chose ZEN because of good reports by Which/Internet, their CS is in England and they have e-mails and telephones.

    So I'm going with their full fibre.

    PS City Fibre are also laying cables in our district too.   So I think for most of us change and choice is on it's way.

      Neither available in my area at the moment. I did have a City Fibre flyer through the door but when I check my postcode on their website it says coming soon.

    I got an email on 24 February 2023 informing me of a price rise on 1 May (which didn't affect me) and "From April 2024, we are changing our approach so any price rise to your package is always made at the same time every year, and it’ll be linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation plus an additional 3.9%, so the amount of any increase will be clearer, sooner".  I was given the opportunity to "change or cancel your package, including your Volt O₂ sim, any time before 4th April 2023, without paying any cancellation fees".

    So, it wasn't as if I had no options, I opted to stay and renogotiated my contract in August this year at a lower price and knowing that there will be a price rise in April 2024.

  • EDIT : Previous should read

    I recontracted from March 2023, but the April 2024 price increase terms were not specified other than 'Prices may increase during your contract' (no reference to April 2024)

      "'Prices may increase during your contract'"

      Catch all statement so no need to mention April. @

    If you look at the second post from @R_Lee you will see it was resolved for OP in a PM.

    This the problem when things go into PMs we are all denied knowing if this would help us all.

    Well my contract runs out at the start of march, so see what they will offer then.
    Last contract started at £31-50 and by the end £39 not a lot for some but being 77 and on state pension made a difference for me, like a lot of people now days cost of living has hit us hard. Mind you I am not one who swaps and changers been with this setup since day one, but it looks like I will have to start.

      What speed are you on. They've never offered me such a low price per month. I'm currently paying £41 a month for 350 which they upgraded from £39 for 250. Am I getting a good deal. I only renewed in November when I had the option to cancel otherwise I would have been stuck in my previous contract at £47 a month for 250. There are currently no other ftth providers in my area so I can't get the same speeds elsewhere at this moment in time.

        Hi for your interest I am on 126 broadband only, but told them they could drop me down to 50 as I was on that speed for many years they overtime put it up I did not ask for it, didn't make any difference to me for what I do, but now days I see quite a few offering that speed so can have a look around.

      Hi trev23 thanks a lot for your reply.

      We do hope that when the time comes, we can offer you a suitable deal!
      For package changes it is best to get in touch directly with the team on 150 / 0345 454 1111, we hope this helps.

      Many thanks

  • Hi Lee, can you take a look at this please. I am on an initial 18-month price offer and believe I should not be hit with a price rise.

      Hi MWF962, thank you for your post.

      The price increase forms part of your Terms & Conditions with us.

      This was explained to customers last year when we introduced this contractual price change and we offered them a right to cancel without penalty.

      Customers who have joined since we introduced this policy were made aware of it when they signed up.

      Regards,
      Daniel
