No help for pensioners

why is that my elderly mums bill is going up by £10 next month (end of promotion) but she can’t get a better deal with virgin unless she has a new box and broadband? She doesn’t want that, just the simple things like tv and landline. Sad times as she’s been with virgin since the  telewest days!

  • Hi Ajb1975,

Thank you for your post, welcome back to the Community Forums.

We're sorry to hear we haven't been able to offer a more suitable deal for your Mum. Did the team go through our current prices for a package that didn't include a new TV box?

We're afraid that we're unable to help with package changes from here, but it might be worth getting back in touch again with us on 0345 454 1111 so we can have another look. I'm sure we will be able to find a package that's better suited to her.

They won’t offer anything unless she has a new tv box and broadband which she really doesn’t want so it looks like the only thing I can do is look for an alternative for her as she’ll unfortunately be unable to afford the price rise ☹️

Do not have any regrets about leaving VM.  There is no loyalty for long time users, in fact quite the opposite, as out of contract users pay the highest prices. Just look at the offers for "new customers only".  If there are any alternatives at a better cost, just go elsewhere and don't look back.

Elderly people like your mum are a good source of income for Virginmedia because they often find it too stressful to change to another provider.  Perhaps you could help her to move?
