New Contract Netflix with Ads ?????

We called today to talk about a new contract as ours runs out in a few weeks. We are very happy with new contract but we asked why we had to have Netflix with Ads when we were promised we would get all the same services. We were told that this was all Virgin would offer but from reading various forums , I see that is not always the case . We were not even given opportunity to ask for next level up. We are not happy and do not want to give away data so that we can be targeted for our ads !!!!

    You are by no means the first to complain about being caught like this. VM will say this is the same as before because it's now the standard Netflix offering, and you have to pay more to remove the ads. 

    Wait for a VM person to reply, but in the meantime check whether there was anything written about retaining the exact same service.

    We're sorry for any confusion caused. All packages with Netflix included are now Netflix Standard with Ads. We're not able to include Netflix Standard with the package. 

    What you can do though is upgrade to Netflix Standard. If you choose to do this, there will be an additional charge added to your bill each month for the upgraded service.

      So when the nice man on the phone said 'we are offering exactly what you had before' , that is not actually true ? Why not just give us exactly what we had before and add on the extra amount to our quote ? We wouldnt have known any different and this aggravation would not have arisen.

        Hi laurammc, 

        Thanks for coming back to us. We do understand the frustration however before you agreed to the package change, you would have been sent a pre-contract document, detailing what was included. It is your responsibility to check these before proceeding to ensure everything is as it should be. 

        If you check your document that was sent, in the TV section, this will show Netflix Standard with Ads. We're not able to add an upgrade to Netflix Standard as this is something that you need to agree too and do yourself. If you want to add Netflix Standard instead, you can do this via My VM or through Netflix. Once agreed to, the extra charge would be added on top of your monthly service price. 

        We do expect our agents to make clear to you, anything that is different, just to highlight things but it's just as important to ensure you're checking any documents we send to you, before accepting any renewal. We do always take on board the feedback we receive so we can collect the information and use it to learn more about the areas we need to improve. We will certainly pass this information along to the relevant teams.
