The Great Movie channels are free to air television channels owned by Narrative Entertainment UK Limited and not Virgin Media, and are also available on freeview and Sky.

The Shallows aired at 11:15pm on Wednesday 11th December and you wouldn't have been charged if you had set a recording for that program and then watched it.

If you have succesfully recorded the program it will be shown under Recordings.

Have you accidently rented/bought it by using the Virgin Store instead?

Hi newapollo no I didn't go into virgin store never do only record from TV I used my TV Go app click record it then comes up top of your phone your recording has been set. Then I wake up fri go into the app as since we've had this horrible 360 "piece of junk we've had nothing but problems I see rentals 🤷dont think I've ever rented anything before soo I ring virgin useless you must have purchased NO I DID NOT I'm assuming if you purchase from virgin store they tell you the cost and you would need to enter your pin it was just the same as I always do at a guess I'm wondering if the box has malfunctioned but I feel we were sold this on the sky plus thing because had I known we were to only have one recordable box and the other was a streamer I wouldn't have had it the technician only told me once it was all installed my son has the recordable because he has a learning disability but I think it's a heap of junk only had it since Aug and we've had to have the main box replaced so now I don't know what to do they can see I don't purchase stuff

  • Hi Lj711

    Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear of your concern with a charge.

As new apollo has kindly advised, we don't charge for recordings.

Do you recall how you searched and found the movie you were charged for? If this was search for on the store then and purchase to rent or buy would be chargeable.

If you search for the film through OnDemand, does the movies shows as available through OnDemand or only available to buy/rent from the store?

Hi Carley I explained to the advisor the film was on great action or great movies now on our V6 box all great movies were free as is film four talking pics etc the shallows was listed in the great programing for the day so I just pressed record as usual it said your recording has been set no mention of a charge or asking for a pin because I would have declined then the next morning I see virgin store rent well I never went into the virgin store because I know that incurs a cost one of your advisors told me your charging for great movie channels now on our V6, everything was clearly set out you knew what was chargeable so now I'm afraid to record anything on great in case there's this HIDDEN I would say charge I feel its ripping off the customer to not inform them of the charge before recording hope you can help I've had nothing but problems since these horrible 360s were installed I detest them I'd have my old box back in a heartbeat

Hi Lj711 thanks for your reply.

In order for a Virgin Store purchase to go through, the box would physically load up the Virgin Store software and then you'd need to enter the PIN, it's not possible to do a purchase without this so we can rule it out happening on any recording.

It's possible this may have happened in error on another show you tried to watch.

I can look into it further though so please let me send you a PM so I can investigate further.

        Many thanks

Nooo I went onto great I have the channels on my phone looked at what was on clicked on it clicked record shows in a white bar at top of screen your recording has been set so you can understand my reluctance to record anything else it was on late and in two parts because they have a break advertising what's on for the whole week so if anyone can tell me what's gone wrong I'd appreciate it

There is no charge for recording programmes, or playing back the recording.

"The Shallows" has 3 OnDemand assets listed - 2 x PPV versions and 1 x Netflix. I use a V6 so am not familiar with how the TV360 displays programmes that are available from multiple sources, but this may be causing some confusion here - if you have 2 chargeable sources and one free recording.

Truly I went straight onto the programme list on virgin media TV Go app as I've stated in other replies clicked on the shallows on the great chanel clicked record white bar at top tells you your recording has been set so god knows what's happened but I'm worried it will happen again. Whatever you do don't get 360 it's utter rubbish the only one recordable box you have to share it nowhere near amount of storage I so wish I could have my V6 back think I will have to go freesat need to be able to record

        Hi again Lj711

It does look like the recording was set because you saw the white bar at the top of the screen confirming that the program would be recorded.

If the recording has been set then it should show under the Recordings section on both the main TV360 box and 360 mini box, and be playable from both boxes providing the main box is switched on. If the recording has been saved then it should also show up in the TVGo app  when clicking on Saved.

I wonder if when you went to play it back/check on the recording  if you have accidently hit on the  VM Store icon instead of the Play button. (Mobile phones can be awkward to use and it's easy to scroll the screen inadvertently)
