Lots of devices on network

Hi - I can see lots of devices connected on my network but not all of them are apparent as to what they are. How can I ascertain exactly and make sure my network isn’t being used in an unauthorised way. Many thanks

There is no easy way to do this when those in IT have a hard time if some thing is unauthorised.

You can't do it with the hub but you can get other equipment and do a MAC allow list block every thing else but even thats not perfect.

  • Hello VMBowes01

Thanks for posting in regards to the devices showing in your Hub and wanting to know exactly what they are to ensure there are none there that shouldn't be. We appreciate you raising this via the forums and welcome to the community.

As legacy1 has advised it is difficult to do this as it can't be done automatically via the Hub. If you were using a third party router or mesh system, you could follow the advice offered by legacy1 and set up a list to ensure only devices you're aware of are allowed access to your network.

Devices like phones and tablets will change their Wi-Fi MAC addresses from time to time, and the Hub in Router mode may remember those connections for a while.

If you do a reset of the Hub you will find there are fewer connections shown.

  • Thanks all - I’ll reset the Hub. There are loads as “unused”
