Free services that aren't free

18 months ago I phoned Virgin to try and get the cost of my increasing services down.  They decreased a bit but then said if I agreed to extend my contract by 18 months they would 'give' me various tv services. Then just before my next bill they tell me that my bill is going up from £75 a month to £174!! (I suspect that those serivices they gave me as a sweetener are now being charged at the full rate)

 The contract period doesn't run out until September 12th but they have dropped the discount already.

Needless to say I have cancelled my Virgin service and will never use them again, but am going to lose a hundred pounds to this crooked company.

I'll be taking this to the ombudsman if I don't get a suitable response from Virgin and I will start a campaign on social media to ensure this never happens to anyone else.

    Check the package dates on your bill. You pay a month in advance, so for example my August bill (shown below) was produced on 21st August to cover the billing period (package date) 19th August to 18th September.

    We're sorry to hear you're feeling this way. When you join us as a new customer, or re-contract as an existing customer, you'll usually be on a welcome/promotional offer. When this offer ends, you'll usually revert to the standard package price for the bundle.

    The cost of this will be listed on your contract and the end date of the discounts is listed on each bill. As we bill in advance for the services, you'll usually see the increase the month before. 

    We also send out an End Of Contact Notification to you before your contract comes to an end highlighting the new price and also any offers that may be of interest.
