Double contract renewal? Help Please

Hi this seems to be a recurring problem. I put in a contract renewal online and received an order confirmation on the 24th December with an estimated activation date of the 27th, after the usual pre-contract documents which I was happy with. I have just received another 'renew now!' message from virgin and checked my account and its still the old contract, with a charge of £116 due on the 16th January! I will not be happy about that. Can you advise on what is going on?

  • Ok, what is going on? This is down to VM's marketing department being completely out of control (have you seen the hang-gliding goats one) and making offers and 'campaigns' without actually bothering to check if the company is geared to offer it, or indeed, if the customer services staff are trained and are aware if it!

Their entire customer service provision is simply broken, as you have noticed, one part of VM have absolutely no idea of what another part is doing or offering!

Now, luckily from your perspective, the law here is fairly clear. You were made an offer by a 'bone fide' VM agent which you accepted, yes? Contract made and it is legally binding on both parties. Now it appears that VM's dysfunctional and broken systems have ignored this and are changing you more - not your problem.

Now, the question here is, suppose that you decide that VM are a institutionally broken and incompetent company, what do you need to do to disengage yourself from them?
