Upgraded remote control and Router

  • Hi, just joined after spotting. Can anyone help? Had 2 recent telephone calls from Asian people saying they are from Virgin Media and seem to know lots about my account when I question them. They don't at first impressions appear to be scammers. After asking me lots of questions and thanking me for my loyalty (11 years) they offer me a new updated remote control, new updated router, some new channels I didn't really understand and some channels upgraded to UHD and more data on our O2 SIM contracts. All for around an extra £8.00 per month. The number called from is 0800 0521251. Our equipment is 11 years old but actually the only regular problem we have is our TiVo box which freezes up and remote won't work with it and we have to keep switching it off and on to re-boot which takes a long time continually. Is it genuine? If it is, can I just have a new box please that works properly. Everything else meets our current needs. Many thanks.

If you have a Tivo box and a remote both with a fault, phone that in as a fault and ask for a tech to remedy/replace.

The agent on the phone will doubtless try to upsell you something so beware of inadvertently agreeing to a new contract.

You simply need the existing equipment to be repaired/replaced under your existing contract.

  • Hi petestoney

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

That is one of our marketing numbers yes.

If your TV box is 11 years old, I won't be able to replace this as we no longer stock those models.

I can however swap this to a newer model for you :).

If that's all you'd like to do in terms of a package change, I can help with that here 🙂

If you'd like to discuss a new deal/package however, please contact the team on 150 from a Virgin Media Landline or 03454541111 from any other phone.

I'll send you a private message now.

Please look out for the envelope in the top right of the page and pop back to me when you can.
