Text message received from Virigin but I am not a customer

My son received a text message from Virgin Media:

Thanks for visiting our website!

Our friendly Chat Team are here to help with any queries.

You can reach them at: virg.in/webchat

To end SMS send STOP to 65043

 

He received this on his Imoo watch, which is supposed to block messages from numbers not in his contact list. He has never been to the Virgin Media website, and definitely didn't give out his number. 

Hence, I would like to know why he got this message and how Virgin Media has his number.

    It may be that another customer has provided the the incorrect number (which happens to be your son's). We don't usually send out these kinds of messages unless a number has been provided to us directly. We can send you a PM to confirm a few details and ensure that the number is opted out of any marketing in future!
